Federal Government Resumes Executions

Convicted killer Daniel Lewis Lee is killed by lethal injection in the first federal execution in 17 years after a series of court battles. The Supreme Court cleared the way for the resumption of the federal death penalty in an unsigned order. Lee, 47, was convicted in 1999 of killing a family of three. He was executed at a prison in Terre Haute, Ind.
