Minority Leader
The Minority Leader is elected by the members of the party with the fewest seats in the Senate to serve as their leader and spokesperson. The Minority Leader has second recognition rights for any bill that is brought to the floor. This privilege allows him or her to be the second to speak about the legislation, after the Majority leader, during debate. The current Senate Minority Leader is Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
