Carbon Sequestration
Carbon sequestration is the fixation of atmospheric carbon dioxide so it
is not released into the atmosphere. The term is most frequently used in
discussions of how to capture CO2 emitted by coal-fired power plants in
order to slow global warming. Injection of captured CO2 is being tried
deep in the ocean, in depleted oil and gas fields, and in underground
saline aquifers.
