U.S. Attorneys
These are the principal litigators of the nation, serving nearly
all of the judicial districts in the U.S. and its territories under the
direction of the U.S. Attorney General. There are 93 U.S. attorneys who are appointed by
the president and confirmed by the Senate, and they are the chief federal law
enforcement officers in their districts. They prosecute and defend cases in
which the United States
is a party.
