NOTE: Annenberg Classroom closed captions are added to Windows Media files through the use of an ActiveX component (.asx file). Many Internet security settings will try to prevent the loading of .asx files for fear that they might contain viruses or other malicious programs. Your browser may present a warning to this effect.
In order to view Annenberg Classroom videos with captions, you must permit your browser to load Annenberg Classroom .asx files.

Viewing Closed Captions in Windows Media Player
Please follow the illustrated procedure appropriate for your version of Windows Media Player:
Windows Media Player version 11
First, you must enable captions in the Tools/Options menu's Security tab.
If menus are not currently displayed in your version of Windows Media Player, right-click in the area indicated and select Show Classic Menus from the pop-up menu.

Then, you can access the Tools menu, and select the Options submenu as shown:

Locate the Security tab and make sure that the Show local captions when present box is checked.

Click OK to proceed.
Viewing Captions in Windows Media Player 11
Now you can access the Play menu as shown:

Windows Media Player version 10
Windows Media Player version 10 is similar to version 11.
Windows Media Player version 9
There is no Captions security setting in Windows Media Player version 9.
Simply select the Play menu and the Captions and Subtitles/On if Available submenu.
